What do you think of this gift for my Husband to be?

Our wedding is a little over 2 weeks away, and I'm getting VERY excited!!

I would like to give him a gift, after the wedding, when we are alone (at last), that would be something sentimental that he'd keep forever.

I am planning already to print my (self-written) vows on some nice paper, and give him that to keep.

The other idea I had was this: FH and I are both avid travelers, and have made it our mission to see as much of the world as we can, with each other. We've already done quite a bit, and it's very important to us. My gift idea was to get him one of those gemstone inlaid globes http://www.1worldglobes.com/1WorldGlobes/GemstoneGlobes/blkopal46siltri.html and on the brass ring that goes around it, have one of our favorite quotes, from Whitman,

"I give you my love more precious than money,
I give you myself before preaching or law;

And then to have our wedding date after that. This will probably cover the circumference of the brass ring.

What do you think? Is this a good gift? Or is it too cheesy?
It's not large - the whole thing is about 8" or 9" square. It would probably wind up on his desk at work.

That's an amazing gift!! My husband and I travel a ton too, I wish I'd thought of something like that!
Also an idea, they have these world maps you can buy online. They're very fancy paper with nice framing etc., and you get these little colored push pins to mark where the two of you have traveled together. The map has your names and occasion name on it, as well.

My husband has showered me with many gifts. We celebrated our second wedding anniversary recently. It had been my idea to buy him the world....so to speak. I searched for a Gemstone Globe, everywhere...none to be found. Found one at an antique store close by, the day before our day....Paid a meager 50 bucks for it, but the idea was from the heart. I polished it to look brand new, and the gems which were embedded in the shapes of the countries, looked priceless...I wrapped it, placed a card in it, and presented it to him at the place where we took our vows. in the card i wrote...You have given me the world, now and forever, I want to give it back to you. He gave me 2 carats worth of diamonds. In a few days he told me my gift was Cheezy, not to mention that it came from a second hand store....I could have at least bought him something he could use...What do you think? Sounds like the sentiment went straight over the top of his head?

Yep that sounds like my husband, on our 5th wedding anniversay I bought him a wedding band and had "Always Remember Italy" inscribed inside of the ring the first thing that came out of his mouth was "We have never been to Italy,......so I told him "Always remember, I Trust and Love You".......

Some men can be insensitive sometimes, and you must remember they do not think like we do, so my guess is that the sentiment went way over his head.
The gift you gave him was from the heart and priceless....and the effort that you put into it was awesome, so on your next wedding anniversary just give him a big bag of Cheetos.....
